MAGROW Conducts Year-End Assessment and Action Planning




Maragusan Dole Banana Growers MPC (MAGROW) has conducted its Annual Year End Assessment and Action Planning at Golden Sunrise Beach Resort, Punta Gemilina Badas, Mati on December 19,2009. It was participated by all staff and officers of the coop headed by Chairwoman Mary A. Alam. Director Arcadio Sabella, current Board Member of Magrow has facilitated the said activity.


The activity was started by revisiting MAGROW's vision, mission and objectives. Director Sabella emphasized the importance of Total Quality Management (TQM) to which he stressed its three foundations as "Do the right things, Do things right and Do things right first time and all the time".


The Action Plans fo 2010 and SWOT Analysis was presented by every department heads: Christine Joy Garduque for the Loans Department, Rosalie Garciano for the Finance and Savings Operation, Gilbert Golo for the Trading Section, Norma Panares for the Farm Operation and CAC, Jonas Jay Bucayong for the Banana Flour Milling and Banana Reject Operations, Jhovanrey Lamparas for the Labor Pool Operation and Crisanto Sanoria Jr. for the B2B Operation. The support services group also presented their Annual Action Plan led by Estrella Cabrera for the Personnel Section, Jener Mie Lecias for the Accounting Section, Brian Yu for the IT section and Vivencio Bacaron for the Research and Planning Section.


The said action plans is aimed to be effective starting January 2010.

MAGROW TO SUPPORT COOP-NATCCO PARTYLIST


COOP NATCCO Party list, ang TINIG AT KAKAMPI NG KOOPERATIBA SA KONGRESO is again preparing for the 2010 Elections. The party list cognizance of the great contribution of the cooperative sector in the 14th Congress, through the enormous efforts of the late and lone Congressman, the Hon. Guillermo P. Cua. The Republic Act 9520 is passed in the cooperative sector's favor but amidst the legislative challenges, cooperatives cannot rest complacement. During the last four (4) National Elections, the coop sectoor has always won but the margin of winning was at the very slim edge.*

The battle for the 2010 Election is to capture three (3) seats in Congress, through garnering at least 1 Million Votes.*

In answer to the challenge, MAGROW MPC accepted the invitation to support the COOP- NATCCO being the Party-list'sKEY COOP for 2010 together with 35 cooperatives of Region XI and Region XII.
MAGROW has been a key coop of the party-list during the last Election on 2006 in the Municipality of Maragusan and will be participating once again in the election campaign for the next year's election. Campaign period however will start on February 9, 2010 until May 9, 2010.

On-going Construction of MAGROW Trade Center

MAGROW is presently constructing the three-storey Magrow Trade Center located beside the Magrow Main Bldg. Rizal St. Poblacion Maragusan.

The total budgeted amount of the said building construction is about Seven Million Pesos (PHP 7,000,000.00). An initial amount of Three Million Pesos (Php 3,000,000.00) was released for the construction of the first storey which is targeted to be completed by December of this year.


Magrow Trade Center has first operated on July 2006 being the first cooperative consumer store in Maragusan that uses the Point of Sale (POS) System that provides credit facility to the coop's members. At present, Magrow Trade Center is currently renting the NFA Building located at Purok Pine Tree, Poblacion Maragusan.



The under construction building which was proposed to be a three storey structure will also be featuring a pharmacy, cofee shop, fast foods and bakery items.



The MTC operation is planning to transfer during the first quarter of 2010.

MAGROW MPC'S BRIEF HISTORY

Maragusan Dole Banana Growers Multi-Purpose Cooperative is a duly registered cooperative under the Cooperative Development Authority as per Registration No. 3019-DVO. Its main office is located at Rizal St. Poblacion Maragusan, Compostela Valley Province. It was founded by late Guillermo Agayan Sr., former GRGA (Growers Relation and Government Affairs) Officer of DOLE Stanfilco and was organized as a cooperative on February 14,1994. MAGROW has an initials members of 79 Banana Growers upon its registration on March 11,1994 to the cooperative Development Authority with Registration No.3019- DVO. Its first business was the bookkeeping of member/ growers' books of account . On the second quarter of year 1995, the coop has started its Lending Operation with an initial capital of P 60,000,00. On the July 25,1997 ,MAGROW was an awardee of the FIRST KABUHAYAN AWARD , being one the outstanding cooperative in the Philippines.
On November 17, 1997, MAGROW started servicing the grower's harvest proceeds' payment. In October 1998, the cooperative has again entered into an arrangement with the banana growers collective leaders to cater the payroll servicing of their farm workers.
On September 2001, MAGROW has entered into an FOB2 ex-patio contract with DOLE Stanfilco and catered the banana growers' farm operations and reports and provided farm production materials.
On Year 2003, MAGROW started the Labor Pool Operation which provided manning on the packing plant and other operations of the DOLE Stanfilco. The coop was registered to the Department of Labor and Employment as a Labor Service Provider with Registration No. XI-74911-1003-123.
On October 8, 2005, MAGROW has opened the MAGROW TRADE CENTER, the first consumer store in the town of Maragusan equipped with the POINT OF SALES (POS) System provided by MASS-SPECC.
On November 25, 2008, MAGROW was granted ONE MILLION PESOS (PHP 1,000,000.00) by the Department of Labor and Employment for its Livelihood Project which is the Banana Flour Processing Plant.
